Coming Soon: A Faster, Non-Destructive Way to Verify VIN Authenticity – MVT9900

Vehicle identity fraud and VIN/chassis number tampering are becoming more sophisticated. For traffic police, forensic labs, customs, and insurance investigators, quickly determining whether a vehicle’s identity has been altered—without damaging the vehicle—is a constant challenge.

To support these workflows, HDX International is preparing to launch the MVT9900 Metal Calibration Magnetic-Optical Imager: a non-destructive VIN / chassis number authenticity inspection system designed for real-world vehicle investigations.

Why VIN authenticity matters

A manipulated VIN or chassis number can hide:

  • Stolen vehicles re-introduced into the market

  • Rebuilt or heavily damaged vehicles are sold as “clean.”

  • Cross-border smuggling and tax fraud

  • Fraudulent insurance claims

Traditional inspection methods often rely on manual visual checks or chemical etching/cleaning. These can:

  • Be time-consuming

  • Damage paint or coatings

  • Make it harder to preserve evidence surfaces for further analysis

MVT9900 is designed as a non-destructive alternative.

How MVT9900 works

MVT9900 uses magnetic visualization on stamped numbers or traces on ferromagnetic metal surfaces (such as VIN/chassis stamping areas).

By applying a controlled magnetic field and specialized imaging, the system can:

  • Highlight irregularities that suggest grinding, re-stamping, or overwriting

  • Assist in revealing underlying/original markings

  • Provide visual evidence that can be documented and archived

All of this is done without removing paint or coatings, helping protect both the vehicle and the evidentiary value of the surface.

Built for field efficiency

MVT9900 is designed with roadside and checkpoint operations in mind:

  • Rapid checks – A typical inspection can be completed in around 30 seconds per vehicle

  • Non-destructive – No acids, no sanding, no damage to the inspected area

  • Portable workflow – Suitable for in-field use at checkpoints, inspection stations, and workshop environments

This helps frontline teams run more vehicles through inspection in less time, while maintaining a higher level of confidence in VIN authenticity.

Reporting & archiving

We designed MVT9900 with reporting, documentation, and long-term archiving in mind:

  • Non-destructive alternative to many chemical methods (helps preserve the original evidence surface)

  • Result images can be saved for future review and case files

  • Image processing & export support for multiple formats: BMP / PNG / JPG / JFIF

This allows integration into existing digital evidence systems and case management workflows.

Who it’s for

The MVT9900 Metal Calibration Magnetic-Optical Imager is intended for organizations involved in:

  • Traffic police / vehicle administration

  • Criminal investigation units

  • Forensic laboratories

  • Customs and border control agencies

  • Insurance claim and fraud investigation teams

If your work involves detecting stolen vehicles, cloned identities, mileage fraud, or tampered VIN/chassis numbers, MVT9900 is being built for your workflow.

Pre-launch: stay informed
