High-Precision Outsole Pattern Collection System
Footwear often plays a silent yet critical role in criminal investigations. From bloody footprints to worn-out soles left behind at a scene, every step can become a crucial piece of evidence. Our Dynamic Footwear Impression Collection System offers law enforcement and forensic teams a clean, digital, and highly accurate method for capturing suspect outsole patterns — replacing messy ink methods with a modern, pressure-sensitive solution.
Key Features

Dynamic outsole pattern acquisition
Captures the suspect’s full outsole pattern in real time, clearly reflecting pressure distribution areas across the sole.

Optical and pressure-based 1:1 image output
Uses a combination of light sensing and pressure detection to generate a true-to-size black-background and white-pattern image (color inversion available).

Seamless integration with outsole comparison systems
Compatible with automated outsole matching systems. Captured images can be processed for pattern feature extraction and database matching — helping improve case-solving efficiency.

Equipped with acquisition software
Can operate independently in any data collection environment, making it convenient for managing and storing suspect outsole images.

Faster and cleaner than traditional ink-based methods
Offers a modern, digital alternative to messy and time-consuming ink footprint collection techniques.

Simple operation with automatic power-off
Easy to use, with an auto-shutdown function to protect the device when not in use.
Imaging Principle
The SoleScan system uses a unique light-shadow deformation method. When a suspect steps onto the elastic reflective tape, the pressure from the shoe creates micro-level bulges on the tape surface. These deformations are illuminated from the side by an internal LED light source.
As the light passes through the transparent glass, it strikes the bulges, forming shadows that vary with pressure intensity. These shadow patterns are captured by a camera positioned beneath the glass via a reflective optical path, generating a high-resolution outsole image with enhanced contrast and detail.
