The EOD® 10 sets a new benchmark in blast protection, operator comfort, and mission capability. Developed through a multi-year, user-centric program, it delivers a noticeably lighter, more comfortable suit with greater mobility—helping EOD technicians and military operators work longer with less fatigue, even in complex environments.
The jacket and trousers are fully redesigned to reduce weight and enhance freedom of movement, while an upgraded ambient air ventilation system helps mitigate heat stress so users stay refreshed and focused during extended tasks.
The EOD 10 helmet is also completely new, improving situational awareness, protection, and fit. It integrates a voice command system, mission-specific lighting options, and enhanced warning/confirmation features to support operators across diverse operational conditions.
Together, the EOD 10 suit and helmet provide balanced protection against four primary blast threats: overpressure, fragmentation, impact, and heat—leveraging advanced lightweight protective materials to increase overall protection while significantly reducing weight.
NIJ 0117.01 framework & independent verification approach
The EOD® 10E was designed for the NIJ 0117.01 standard for public safety bomb suits and engineered beyond baseline requirements with additional user-oriented features.
In addition to core protection areas (heat, fragmentation, detonation pressure/overpressure and impact), NIJ evaluation emphasizes other critical test categories such as:
-
Ergonomics (e.g., donning/doffing)
-
Optics (e.g., light transmission and distortion in the viewing area)
-
Flammability
-
Electrostatic discharge (ESD)
-
Head protection (e.g., impact attenuation, dielectric strength)
-
Spine protection
Testing is performed in NIJ-accredited independent laboratories via the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI), and regular manufacturing audits support ongoing compliance with production commitments.
